Thunder on the Ohio

Evansville has hosted the Thunder on the Ohio unlimited hydroplane boat race since 1979. Thunder on the Ohio is held the last weekend in June on the Ohio River in downtown Evansville. The race is part of the Evansville Freedom Festival.

Thunder on the Ohio is the first official race of the American Boat Racing Association season. The race has occasionally been broadcast on ESPN and the SPEED (TV channel).
