Billboard Top Latin Albums

Billboard Top Latin Albums

The "Billboard" Top Latin Albums chart is the most important music chart for Spanish language albums in the American music market. It was established by the magazine in July 10 1993, with "Mi Tierra" by Gloria Estefan at number-one. This data is complied by Nielsen SoundScan from a universe of merchants that represents more than 90% of the U.S. music retail market. The sample includes not only music stores and the music departments at electronics and department stores, but also direct-to-consumer transactions and internet sales (both physical albums via internet, and ones bought via digital downloads). A limited array of verifiable sales from concert venues is also tabulated. The current number-one album, as of October 18 2008 issue is "Vámonos Pa'l Río" by Los Pikadientes de Caborca.
