History

In 1998, Adam Barycza, George Kosovich and Steve Zogas, together with Associate Professor of Finance John Chalmers, formed the University of Oregon Investment Group to provide practical, hands-on investment experience.

In 1999, D. A. Davidson & Co. accepted the UOIG to manage a portfolio of $50,000. The UOIG has since started to manage real money.

In 2000, the group started its second portfolio, Tall Firs, which is funded with a $450,000 donation from the University of Oregon Foundation and Lundquist College of Business alumni Roger Engemann, Grant Inman, Greg Houser and Ralph Rittenour.

In 2006, UOIG formed a $100,000 all-equity portfolio for investor Howard Svigals.
