"Stay With Me" is a song performed by popular Motown recording group DeBarge issued on their popular 1983 album, "In a Special Way".

Written by brothers Marty and El and sister Bunny, the song talks of a man wanting a lover of his to stay with him despite her worries about their relationship. The man makes his case near the end of the song chanting "don't go, don't go/I love you so". The song was led by El DeBarge mixing tenor and falsetto with his siblings' harmonic backgrounds backing him up.
Hip-hop samples
Issued on the group's second album, "In a Special Way", the song wasn't officially released as a single but it would gain leverage as an oft-sampled single in hip-hop and R&B. By 1995, rappers like Big L and The Notorious B.I.G. have used the ending instrumental vamp of the song - which featured El's keyboard playing - for their hit songs, "MVP" and "One More Chance" respectively. Mary J. Blige sung parts of the verses on "One More Chance" and later interpolated the ending vamp of the song for her track, "Don't Go", off her heralded "My Life" album. Nearly a decade later, R&B singer Ashanti sampled the song for her hit "Foolish". Mariah Carey recently sampled the group's chorus for her single, "I'll Be Lovin' U Long Time" on her "E=MC2" album.
