The Rt Rev.Frank Jackson Okell was the inaugural
Bishop of Stockport whose 11 month tenure from November 1949 ["Bishop Of Stockport (Official Appointments and Notices) "The Times Tuesday, Aug 23, 1949; pg. 4; Issue 51467; col F] until October 1950 ["Bishop Of Stockport Obituary"The Times Monday, Oct 09, 1950; pg. 6; Issue 51817; col G] was one of the shortest in theAnglican Communion. Born on3 February 1887 he was educated at Rugby andTrinity College, Oxford [“Who was Who”1897-1990 London,A & C Black , 1991 ISBN 071363457X] .Ordained in 1914 he was a curate at Bolsterstone before wartime service as a temporarychaplain . Following the Armistice he was a "Minor Canon" atSheffield Cathedral thenRector of Bangor Monachorum [ [http://www.bangor-on-dee.co.uk/bangor_parish_1699/index.htm Church web-site] ] . A sideways move toEccleston led to promotion to beRural Dean ofMalpas and finally, before his elevation to theEpiscopate ,Archdeacon ofMacclesfield . He died on7 October 1950 .Notes
