History

The first iteration of the Red Birds began play in 1947. Although the Red Birds made the State Tournament in 1949[1], the team soon folded.[2]

With the opening of Storm-Red Bird Stadium at the newly built Chanhassen High School, the current Red Bird squad was created. The 2010 season was the team's first, having joined the Central Division of the River Valley League.[3]

2010

After going 4-2 in exhibition games to begin the season, the 2010 Red Birds finished 7-11 in River Valley League play (11-13 overall) with a division record of 4-4, granting them the 3 seed in the RVL Central Playoffs. Despite losing the first game of said Playoffs to the Le Sueur Braves in a 15-5 rout, Chanhassen rallied to win 3 straight (including a 6-3 win over Le Sueur,) clinching a spot in the Section 6C tournament. The Red Birds, however, would not win a single game in the Section tournament, ending their inaugural season.
