Craigery Michael "Craig" Owens is an American musician from Davison, Michigan. He is best known as the former lead vocalist of Chiodos and has had an involvement in various side projects such as Cinematic Sunrise, and the supergroup Isles & Glaciers. He was part of The Sound of Animals Fighting and was given an offer to reprise his role in their third album, The Ocean and the Sun, but declined due to a full schedule. He is the current lead vocalist for the band Destroy Rebuild Until God Shows.

Biography

On July 20, 2008, Owens attempted to overdose on prescription Xanax in his Michigan home. Owens stated he had been suffering from manic depression, bipolar disorder, and anxiety attacks.^[1]

Owens also stated afterward that he had not suffered any permanent physical damage from the incident and that he couldn't wait to embark on his next tour with Chiodos. Owens had booked over 300 Chiodos concerts before the group was signed to Equal Vision Records.

On December 15, 2008, a new side project was revealed to be called Isles & Glaciers that included Owens, Jonny Craig (Dance Gavin Dance, Emarosa) providing vocals, Vic Fuentes (Pierce the Veil) on guitar and backing vocals, Nick Martin (Underminded, Cinematic Sunrise) on guitar and backing vocals, Matt Goddard (Chiodos) on bass, Brian Southall (The Receiving End of Sirens) on programming/guitar, and Mike Fuentes (Pierce the Veil) on drums/percussion. Their songs include "Hills Like White Elephants", "Clush", "Viola Lion", and "Cemetery Weather".

Florida post-hardcore band, Broadway featured Owens and Jonny Craig as guest vocalists on their debut album Kingdoms, which was released July 7, 2009. Owens was also featured in the song "The Road to Hell Is Paved With Good Intentions" for the band In Fear and Faith.^[2]

Isles & Glaciers made their first live debut at the 2009 SXSW showcase show in Austin, Texas, which was presented by Alternative Press. At the show, the band announced that they have finished recording their debut EP and that it was to be released sometime in the summer of 2009.^[3]

On May 4, 2009, on an acoustic/PodCast Alternative Press Magazine session with Tyler Lawless(former guitarist of xBLANKETx), Craig Owens revealed three facts about himself. He stated that he's a huge Detroit Pistons fan; his favorite player was Chauncey Billups (who has since been traded to the New York Knicks). Secondly, he stated that if he only had to watch three television shows for the rest of his life, they would be Flight Of The Conchords, The Office, and Eastbound And Down.

Solo work

Owens' solo record includes a number of guests including Stephen Christian from Anberlin, Mark Farner from Grand Funk Railroad, Josh Epstein and Cassie Verass of The Silent Years, and Vince Moreno of Kid Brother Collective.^[4]

Owens announced the name of his new solo EP via Twitter, "Με την αγάπη" which is Greek for "with love" and is pronounced "me tin agapi" in English. On July 21, 2009 Craig Owens announced on Twitter that the album would be released in September. On September 15, 2009, "Με την αγάπη (With Love)" was released via Equal Vision Records.

On June 28th, 2011, Owens released a new song, "Bibles and Badges" (featuring Aaron Stern on drums) via Twitter and Facebook, as well as a remix created by Matt Good. In between touring with Destroy Rebuild Until God Shows, Owens is playing solo shows across the U.S; the dates are being announced via Owens' twitter.

Departure from Chiodos

On September 24, 2009, Chiodos announced that they had parted ways with Craig Owens. The band released a statement that read as follows:

"To all of our friends, family, and fans: We would like to let you know that we have let Craig Owens go as the singer of Chiodos. This decision was a necessary one. Out of respect for all of the hard work that we have put in together for all of these years we will not be discussing the specific reasons that this needed to happen. We wish Craig well . We will absolutely be continuing on as a band and we will keep you informed as this next chapter unfolds. Chiodos fans are the best fans in the world and all we can ask of you, after everything you have already given us, is to share in our excitement for this next album. We promise you will not be disappointed............Brad, Jason, Pat, and Matt"^[5]

Destroy Rebuild Until God Shows

On August 17, 2010, Owens announced via Twitter his new band will be named Destroy Rebuild Until God Shows (D.R.U.G.S.)^[6] Alongside Owens in the band are Nick Martin (Underminded, Cinematic Sunrise, Isles & Glaciers), Matt Good (From First to Last), Aaron Stern (Matchbook Romance) and Adam Russell (Story of the Year).^[7]

The self-titled album, D.R.U.G.S. was released February 22, 2011, hitting #1 on Billboard's U.S. Hard Rock list.

Via Twitter, Owens stated that the band booked the Rise From The Ashes tour (with Eyes Set to Kill and New Medicine as opening acts).^[8][9] The band played on the Alternative Press Tour Spring 2011 co-headlining with the band Black Veil Brides and openers being I See Stars, VersaEmerge, and Conditions. Destroy Rebuild Until God Shows performed at the 2011 Vans Warped Tour in its entirety, with the exception of July 17th, 19th, and 20th.^[10]

On July 12, 2011, D.R.U.G.S. released a live EP titled "Live From Hot Topic", which includes 5 live songs: "The Only Thing You Talk About", "My Swagger has a First Name", "Mr. Owl Ate My Metal Worm", "Graveyard Dancing" and "If You Think This Song is About You, It Probably Is".

The band is currently playing the Soundwave Revolution tour in Australia, and is set to play the World War III tour with Asking Alexandria and Hollywood Undead from November 1st to November 19th.

Movie career

Craig Owens announced that he would be missing a few dates of Vans Warped Tour to pursue his acting career; he will be appearing in an upcoming movie. Neither he nor D.R.U.G.S. played on the 17th, 19th, and 20th of July. The rest of the band, however, still attended Vans Warped Tour, doing signings. Owens told fans attending to keep their ticket stubs for three shows in the future to make up for the missing dates. Owens said that he and the band would continue playing Vans Warped Tour on the 21st of July.

Since then, Craig has tagged the upcoming movie #K11 in his tweets, has mentioned Jules-Mann Stewart (mother of Kristen Stewart / director of K-11), and posted a picture of himself alongside Tommy 'Tiny' Lister. The movie is due for 2012 release.

He will be the character, Ian Sheffield, in the movie "K-11", which was written by Jules-Mann Stewart.^[11]
