He also received The Burton Award for "Suspicions", a song he wrote for Rabbitt.[5]

Early life
Music was a major part of Malloy's life from an early age. His father, Jim Malloy,[6] is a world renowned and Grammy Award-winning recording engineer. Throughout the early 1950s through the late 1970s, Jim Malloy worked with some of the most influential artist of the time. Among the artist that Jim Malloy worked with are Elvis Presley, Sam Cook, Eddy Arnold, Frank Sinatra and Henry Mancini. Jim was known for be willing and able to record a wide variety of genres, including classical, Jazz, Orchestral, Rhythm & Blues, Country, Mariachi bands and Pop.[7] In the early part of David's life, his father worked in recording studios around Los Angeles, CA, but at age 13 David's family moved to Nashville, TN. It was in Nashville that David would discover his passion for music. David took his first guitar lesson at age 15 and immediately knew that he wanted to write and produce music for a living.[8]
Music career
David's first major success as a songwriter/producer came in a collaborative effort with country music artists and songwriters Eddie Rabbitt and Even Stevens.[9] Together the trio produced sixteen number one hits and solidified David's status as a top music producer in Nashville. The success David experienced with Eddie Rabbitt laid the groundwork for production and songwriting work with artist like Kenny Rogers, Dolly Parton, Tanya Tucker, Badfinger and Billy Burnette in the 1980s.[10]
Recent Work
David worked in the A&R department of Columbia/Epic Records and then ran the Nashville division of Electra Records. David was also a producer at Elektra Records in Los Angeles. Most recently, David finished producing the Mercury Records debut of Dancing With The Stars' Julianne Hough and enjoyed chart success with Tim McGraw's version of 'Suspicions' (previously a #1 hit David co-wrote with the late Eddie Rabbitt[11]). Other recent projects include co-producing a beach-themed concept album, Edge Of The Blue, with #1 songwriter/producer Tim Johnson.
Nashville Hootenanny and Teen Hoot
David is the creator of the new artist online platform The Nashville Hootenanny. The Hoot, and it's younger artists' sister event The Teen Hoot is a social media community anchored in monthly world-wide streaming video broadcasts of some of talented and popular young musicians on the Web or anywhere. With his 3 signed Artists, The Command Sisters, Molly Jewel and TJ McFarland, as well as working with Peyton Rae and others, often with fans on the web with millions of page views the Nashville Hootenanny is a place to be seen and heard as well as to learn ones musical craft all the while developing a fan base and artist experience is unique to the world of music. The Nashville Hootenany and the Teen Hoot, less than a year old, has been seen by 100's of thousands of viewers monthly in over 80 countries and with an ever growing social media fan base.
