Maximum Wage is a short film/music video about a disgruntled doughnut shop worker who wants to make "maximum wage". It stars Andrew Bancroft who plays the role of Jelly Donut.[1][2]

Plot

The video begins with Jelly Donut (Andrew Bancroft) and his co-worker, Hinky Dink (Kenny Taylor), waiting for customers in an empty doughnut shop. A sugar daddy (Kid Beyond), and two women come into the shop and begin ordering Jelly D around. Then his boss, Bob (Paco Romane), enters the room and tells him to hurry up. This is too much for Jelly D, and he becomes enraged about his economic circumstance. He then raps about what it would be like to make "maximum wage".[3]

Guest appearances

Andrew Chaikin (AKA Kid Beyond) made a guest appearance in the video. Kid Beyond is a San Francisco, CA beat boxer. Paco Romane also made a guest appearance as the donut shop worker's boss. Paco is a San Francisco comedian, and host of The Romane Event, a monthly comedy show in San Francisco.

Production

This short video was produced by Kenny Taylor and Andrew Bancroft of illBilly productions. It was written and directed by Andrew Bancroft. It was filmed entirely in San Francisco California. The short can be seen on Atom Films. It premiered at the San Francisco Underground Short Film Festival in 2004.[4] and was shown in the San Francisco International Film Festival in 2008[5], as part of a group of shorts which featured Evolution: The Musical!, also an illBilly production.

Controversy

In 2007, as the character "Jelly Donut", Bancroft had a public dispute with Lady Sovereign, a British hip-hop musician. [6]
