Norwegian Breakaway is a cruise ship under construction for Norwegian Cruise Lines, scheduled for delivery in April 2013.

Construction of Norwegian Breakaway began on 21 September 2011, when the first piece of steel was cut at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany.[1] She is planned to be delivered in April 2013, and will be 144,017 GT in size, and have capacity for about 4,000 people. [1] The ship will have a total of 1,024 staterooms and 238 suites, designed by Priestmangoode and Tillberg Design.[2]

Upon delivery, Norwegian Breakaway will be homeported in at the Manhattan Cruise Terminal in New York City, making seven-day cruises to Bermuda.[3]

The ship, along with her sister Norwegian Getaway, were named through a public contest; Kimberly Powell chose the name Norwegian Breakaway, which was announced on 14 September 2011.[4]
