Baldwin is a village in St. Croix County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 2,667 at the 2000 census. The village is located partially within the Town of Baldwin.

Geography

Baldwin is located at coor dms|44|57|51|N|92|22|23|W|city (44.964401, -92.373251)GR|1.

It resides in the exact mid-way meeting between Minneapolis and Eau Claire.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 2.3 square miles (6.0 km²).None of the area is covered with water.

Demographics

As of the censusGR|2 of 2000, there were 2,667 people, 1,115 households, and 703 families residing in the village. The population density was 1,161.0 people per square mile (447.7/km²). There were 1,144 housing units at an average density of 498.0/sq mi (192.0/km²). The racial makeup of the village was 98.43% White, 0.15% Black or African American, 0.19% Native American, 0.41% Asian, 0.07% from other races, and 0.75% from two or more races. 0.41% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There were 1,115 households out of which 31.1% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 52.4% were married couples living together, 7.4% had a female householder with no husband present, and 36.9% were non-families. 30.1% of all households were made up of individuals and 15.7% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.33 and the average family size was 2.92.

In the village the population was spread out with 24.1% under the age of 18, 10.0% from 18 to 24, 29.0% from 25 to 44, 18.0% from 45 to 64, and 18.9% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 35 years. For every 100 females there were 90.9 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 89.3 males.

The median income for a household in the village was $40,313, and the median income for a family was $51,250. Males had a median income of $37,216 versus $26,250 for females. The per capita income for the village was $20,748. About 3.0% of families and 5.5% of the population were below the poverty line, including 3.0% of those under age 18 and 5.6% of those age 65 or over.
