Robert Guy (Royal Navy officer)

Captain Robert Lincoln Guy, LVO Royal Navy, is a Royal Navy officer.

He was born in 1947, and educated at Radley College, and the Britannia Royal Naval College Dartmouth, and entered the Royal Navy in 1966. He was promoted to Lieutenant in 1971, and was Aide-de-Camp to the Governor of Gibraltar in 1973. In 1974 he was appointed Commanding Officer of the minesweeper HMS "Ashton", and in the following year of HMS "Kirkliston". Guy qualified as a Principal Warfare Officer, passed the Ship Command Examination (pce), and was a MNI.

He was promoted to Lieutenant-Commander in 1978, and was Equerry to Her Majesty The Queen 1977-1980. He was also attached to the Princes Andrew and Edward.

From 1981-1982 he was First Lieutenant of the frigate HMS "Antelope", and then attended the Joint Service Defence College, receiving the jsdc. Promoted to Commander 31 December 1983, he was Commanding Officer of the frigate HMS "Sirius" 1984-1985.

By 1990 he was on the staff of the Commander-in-Chief Fleet, and was promoted to Captain 30 June 1991. By 1994 he was in the Ministry of Defence in London.

Guy was made an LVO 1980.
