__NOTOC__Augustów County ( _pl. powiat augustowski) is a unit of territorial administration and local government (powiat) in Podlaskie Voivodeship, north-eastern Poland, on the border with Belarus. It was created on January 1, 1999 as a result of the Local Government Reorganization Act of 1998. Its administrative seat and largest town is Augustów, which lies convert|83|km|mi|0 north of the regional capital Białystok. The only other town in the county is Lipsk, lying convert|32|km|mi|0|abbr=on south-east of Augustów.

The county covers an area of convert|1658.27|km2|sqmi|1. As of 2006 its total population is 58,966, out of which the population of Augustów is 30,054, that of Lipsk is 2,498, and the rural population is 26,414.

Neighbouring counties

Augustów County is bordered by Sokółka County to the south-east, Mońki County to the south, Grajewo County and Ełk County to the west, Suwałki County to the north, and Sejny County to the north-east. It also borders Belarus to the east.

The county is subdivided into seven gminas (one urban, one urban-rural and five rural). These are listed in the following table, in descending order of population.
