Neville Hill

Neville Hill T&RSMD is a railway Traction & Rolling Stock Maintenance Depot situated in Leeds, England. The depot code is NL. It is a rail care depot used by Northern Rail to service certain rolling stock. Depending on the severity of service needed and where the service emanates from, heavy engineering works to rolling stock owned by Northern Rail are sent to an alternate depot in Newcastle upon Tyne.

History

Neville Hill was built by the North Eastern Railway at a cost of £132,971. It opened in 1904. In 1958 after the building of a new turntable (still used today) A DMMU shed was built. Class 40s were the first diesel locos allocated to Neville Hill.

East Midlands Trains

As well as Northern Rail using the depot, many other TOC's use the depot. East Midlands Trains have also used the depot recently to re-paint and refurbish one of their HST into their house colours.

Allocation

Stock allocation at Neville Hill is mainly DMU (Classes 142, 144, 155 and 158) or EMU (Classes 321 and 333) for use in West Yorkshire. Some HST stock is also present, normally used by East Coast, East Midlands Trains and Cross Country. East Midlands Trains HSTs are allocated to Neville Hill. They also use it for stock refurbishment. Neville Hill also has five British Rail Class 08 Diesel Locomotive Shunters in operation, numbers: 08525, 08690, 08724, 08908 and 08950.
