Diogo Jorge Moreno Valente (born 23 September 1984 in Aveiro) is a Portuguese footballer who plays for Académica de Coimbra as a left winger.

Club career

A product of Boavista FC's youth system, Valente made his professional debuts for the northerners in 2004–05, and quickly established himself as first-choice in winger positions, as Boavista achieved two consecutive sixth places in the first division. Previously, he served a one-year loan at Grupo Desportivo de Chaves, in the second level.

In July 2006, Valente signed for an undisclosed fee with league giants F.C. Porto but, in January 2007, after appearing just once (albeit in an important match, a 1–1 draw at Sporting Clube de Portugal), he was loaned to C.S. Marítimo,[1] where he scored in a 1–1 away draw against C.D. Aves.

Valente jumped the "loan train" again from 2007–09, this time at Leixões SC, in Matosinhos, which had returned to the top flight for the 2007–08 campaign. Alongside teammates Vieirinha and Paulo Machado, also loaned by Porto, he proved instrumental as the club retained its league status at the end of the first season.

On 1 July 2009, Valente was finally released by Porto, joining Sporting de Braga for an undisclosed fee. As the Minho side finished in a best-ever second position, he appeared rarely, sometimes not even making the list of 18.

Valente appeared regularly for Académica de Coimbra during the 2010–11 season, on loan. On 29 June 2011, he rescinded his contract with Braga, signing a one-year deal with the Students.[2]
