Zakopane crash

Mazoch took part in the World Cup event in Zakopane, Poland on January 20, 2007. He had been in 15th position after his first jump, the best performance of his career thusfar. The jumpers had to deal with changing winds throughout the event. It is believed that when Mazoch was in mid-air, the wind lift suddenly disappeared, causing him to crash to the ground.

Mazoch was taken to a nearby medical facility, where doctors made a statement that he was in highly critical condition. At night he was transported to the hospital in Kraków, Poland. The medical staff of the hospital announced that Mazoch was in a state of pharmacologically-induced coma to prevent any further injuries. He sustained brain injuries [ [http://www.iht.com/articles/ap/2007/01/31/sports/EU-SPT-SKI-JUM-Mazoch.php Czech ski jumper Jan Mazoch moves to Czech hospital to continue recovery] ] , but no other internal injuries. The decision was made to wake up Mazoch on January 22. On that day he was be transported to the Czech Republic. Later after a long recovery he is finally back on his feet and has gone back to Praha. He has currently resumed jumping after his long stay in Czech hospitals.
