Lake Hallie, Wisconsin

Lake Hallie, Wisconsin

Lake Hallie is a village located in Chippewa County in the U.S. state of Wisconsin.

History and population

In an open effort to prevent further annexation and utility encroachment by the cities of Chippewa Falls from the northeast and Eau Claire from the southwest, the village was incorporated by referendum from a large portion of the Town of Hallie on February 28, 2003. Over 95% of the 4,703 residents (2000 census) of the Town of Hallie live within the new village. A 2004 estimate puts the village's population at 5,345.

Geography

Lake Hallie is 14.4 square miles (37.3 km²), bordered on the west by the Chippewa River, on the southeast by the Town of Hallie, on the east by the Town of Lafayette, on the north by Chippewa Falls and on the south by the city of Eau Claire and the Town of Seymour. The 2004 population estimate puts the village's population density at 371.1 per square mile (143.3/km²). As of 2006, over half the village's area remained decidedly rural.

Sports

Lake Hallie hosts an annual five-day baseball and softball tournament called Hallie Youth Days at the end of July. Tom Sippel Field, dedicated to the Tom Sippel, is the home field for the Hallie Eagles, a baseball team in the Chippewa River Baseball League. The Eagles have won the CRBL championship three times in 1984, 1996, and also in 2000 and have won the south division in the CRBL five times.
