Michael McElwee

Michael McElwee

Michael McElwee is the founder and writer of SportsGoblin, a sports parody and satire site.

SportsGoblin is patterned after other popular news/sports satire sites like The Onion and SportsPickle. SportsGoblin is focused on Chicago, but parodies sports teams and people throughout the United States. The most common targets of the site have included Lou Piniella, Dusty Baker, Tank Johnson and Isiah Thomas.

SportsGoblin debuted in April 2007. In that brief time, over 25 parody articles have been written. This is in addition to top five lists, famous fake quotes, propositional bets and more.

McElwee graduated from the University of Illinois (Champaign) in 1992 with a degree in...Chemical Engineering. Since then, he has done research and development on ways to treat radioactive waste for WMX Technologies, technical writing and currently web site design and development. He has gotten an additional MS in computer information systems, which he uses just slightly more than his undergrad degree.
