Column filter

A column filter is mainly used for the refining for the organic chelation compounds. The filter consists of the dropping funnel and the two 12 inch glass columns ( the main constituents for the filter system) the reservoir is a vacuum aided flask for first filtration. The absorbent chemicals are activated charcoal (first column) and activated aluminium neutral (in the second column), also sometimes silica gel is used to remove the unavoidable chelates like antimony. The set up is shown in the figure below.
