Whitestown is a town in Worth Township, Boone County, Indiana, United States. The population was 471 at the 2000 census.

In Whitestown, Indiana, a new development is underway for a 1,700 mixed use community called Anson. While Anson [http://www.ansonindiana.com] isn't a stand alone city, and is apart of Whitestown, it will be home to a number of new businesses, including Medco Health Solutions and ASILimited. In addition, Anson will include residential, office, healthcare and retail developments including a Lowes Home Improvement Center and Meijer stores.Located along Interstate 65, between the exits at State Road 334 and State Road 267, this master planned community is being developed by Duke Realty Corporation [http://www.dukerealty.com] . The north side of the campus is called AllPoints at Anson and is a joint development between Duke and Browning Investments [http://www.allpointsindiana.com/apa.aspx] .

It is named after Anson Mills, [http://www.arlingtoncemetery.net/a-mills.htm] a Boone County native, an accomplished surveyor, builder, civil engineer, Union Army officer, inventor, diplomat, and author.

When finished over the next 10-15 years, Anson is expected to directly employ nearly 25,000 people with an annual payroll of more than $868 million.

Geography

Whitestown is located at coor dms|39|59|46|N|86|20|41|W|city (39.996136, -86.344612)GR|1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 0.3 square miles (0.7 km²), all of it land.

Demographics

As of the censusGR|2 of 2000, there were 471 people, 175 households, and 131 families residing in the town. The population density was 1,843.9 people per square mile (699.4/km²). There were 187 housing units at an average density of 732.1/sq mi (277.7/km²). The racial makeup of the town was 99.15% White, 0.21% Asian, and 0.64% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.64% of the population.

There were 175 households out of which 40.6% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 61.7% were married couples living together, 8.0% had a female householder with no husband present, and 24.6% were non-families. 20.6% of all households were made up of individuals and 4.0% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.69 and the average family size was 3.10.

In the town the population was spread out with 29.5% under the age of 18, 5.1% from 18 to 24, 37.4% from 25 to 44, 21.0% from 45 to 64, and 7.0% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 35 years. For every 100 females there were 103.9 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 100.0 males.

The median income for a household in the town was $46,528, and the median income for a family was $47,917. Males had a median income of $32,031 versus $25,893 for females. The per capita income for the town was $21,674. About 8.1% of families and 7.3% of the population were below the poverty line, including 13.6% of those under age 18 and none of those age 65 or over.
