Macy is a town in Allen Township, Miami County, Indiana, United States. The population was 248 at the 2000 census.

Geography

Macy is located at coor dms|40|57|35|N|86|7|45|W|city (40.959601, -86.129088)GR|1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 0.1 square miles (0.4 km²), all of it land.

Demographics

As of the censusGR|2 of 2000, there were 248 people, 82 households, and 62 families residing in the town. The population density was 1,755.5 people per square mile (684.0/km²). There were 94 housing units at an average density of 665.4/sq mi (259.2/km²). The racial makeup of the town was 97.18% White, 0.40% Native American, 0.40% Asian, 0.40% from other races, and 1.61% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.61% of the population.

There were 82 households out of which 42.7% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 61.0% were married couples living together, 9.8% had a female householder with no husband present, and 23.2% were non-families. 18.3% of all households were made up of individuals and 7.3% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 3.02 and the average family size was 3.51.

In the town the population was spread out with 33.9% under the age of 18, 7.3% from 18 to 24, 34.3% from 25 to 44, 14.1% from 45 to 64, and 10.5% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 31 years. For every 100 females there were 115.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 110.3 males.

The median income for a household in the town was $37,188, and the median income for a family was $41,667. Males had a median income of $32,321 versus $15,750 for females. The per capita income for the town was $14,692. None of the families and 2.6% of the population were living below the poverty line.
