Story is an unincorporated town in Van Buren Township, Brown County, Indiana. It was founded an eccentric German immigrant named Nicholas Clayton Werner. According to legend, he was told by a gypsy that he would found a town in strange land. After moving to America he married and had 12 children. He moved west and eventually settled at the current location. He had always spoken of what the gypsy told him and after his death, his wife set up the "Story Inn" from which the town takes its name.
