Rossburg is a village in Darke County, Ohio, United States. The population was 224 at the 2000 census.

Rossburg is home to the Eldora Speedway, a half-mile clay oval race track.

Geography

Rossburg is located at coor dms|40|16|50|N|84|38|21|W|city (40.280603, -84.639240)GR|1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 0.1 square miles (0.4 km²), all of it land.

Demographics

As of the censusGR|2 of 2000, there were 224 people, 86 households, and 62 families residing in the village. The population density was 1,600.2 people per square mile (617.8/km²). There were 89 housing units at an average density of 635.8/sq mi (245.5/km²). The racial makeup of the village was 99.11% White, 0.45% Native American, 0.45% from other races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.45% of the population.

There were 86 households out of which 31.4% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 58.1% were married couples living together, 5.8% had a female householder with no husband present, and 27.9% were non-families. 26.7% of all households were made up of individuals and 11.6% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.60 and the average family size was 3.16.

In the village the population was spread out with 26.8% under the age of 18, 11.2% from 18 to 24, 28.1% from 25 to 44, 22.8% from 45 to 64, and 11.2% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 36 years. For every 100 females there were 89.8 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 100.0 males.

The median income for a household in the village was $30,583, and the median income for a family was $43,125. Males had a median income of $30,833 versus $18,906 for females. The per capita income for the village was $16,376. About 3.5% of families and 4.3% of the population were below the poverty line, including none of those under the age of eighteen and 5.6% of those sixty five or over.
