Primary State Highway 12, was a highway in the state of Washington, U.S.A., from 1937 to 1964. PSH 12's route extended from Chehalis in the north, to Kelso in the south.

PSH 12 is the last of the original 12 Primary State Highways or the last one created in 1905.

In 1964, PSH 12 from Chehalis to Raymond was signed as SR 6. From Raymond to Johnsons Landing, PSH 12 is now U.S. Route 101. From Johnsons Landing to Kelso, PSH 12 was U.S. Route 830 until 1968, when the SR 4 designation took over.

Branches

PSH 12 has 3 named branches and 2 unnamed branches.

Johnsons Landing-Megler (JM)

PSH 12JM started at PSH 12 in Johnsons Landing. It then headed southeast to Megler, where it went to Astoria. When a new bridge was completed in 1966, the Point Ellice-Megler route became SSH 12B. SSH 12B is now SR 401 and PSH 12JM is part of U.S. Route 101.

kinville Cutoff (SC)

PSH 12 SC starts at PSH 12 JM near Seaview and goes south for 0.6 miles to PSH 12 JM near Ilwaco. It is a shortcut for drivers bypassing Seaview and Ilwaco. PSH 12 SC became co-signed as US 101 Alt. from 1937 to 1964. It is no longer holding any special designation.

Longview branch (LB)

PSH 12 LB starts at PSH 12 in Longview and goes southeast to PSH 1 at the Longview Wye. In 1964, PSH 12 LB became SR 832, but when US 830 was shortened, a portion became SR 4, which changed SR 832 into SR 432 in 1968.

Unnamed branches

Branch 1

PSH 12¹ was created in 1963 that went from PSH 12 east of the Cowlitz River Bridge in Kelso and headed northeast to PSH 1 near Kelso. It became SR 831 in 1964, then SR 431 in 1968. SR 431 was decommissioned on April 1, 1992.

Branch 2

PSH 12² started at PSH 12 LB in Longview, then went south to the Columbia River Bridge, where it ended at the Oregon state border. The bridge was purchased by Washington's State Highway Department in 1947. In 1964, the branch became SR 833 and then changed to SR 433 in 1968.

econdary State Highways

PSH 12 had 8 secondary branches; see secondary state highways as branches of Primary State Highway 12.
