Tiverton and Honiton is a constituency represented in the House of Commons of the Parliament of the United Kingdom. It elects one Member of Parliament (MP) by the first past the post system of election.

Boundaries

The constituency is located in east Devon, covering the towns of Tiverton and Honiton and the surrounding areas. Currently it covers much of the district of Mid Devon.

The Boundary Commission for England has recommended that Devon should in future be divided into 12 constituencies. Therefore the Central Devon CC has been proposed. This new constituency, and also the East Devon constituency, will take parts of the current Tiverton and Honiton seat, which will in turn take eastern parts of the current East Devon constituency.

The redrawn Tiverton and Honiton constituency will consist of the following wards;

From the District of East Devon:- Axminster Rural, Axminster Town, Beer and Branscombe, Coly Valley, Dunkeswell, Feniton and Buckerell, Honiton St Michael's, Honiton St Paul's, Newbridges, Otterhead, Seaton, Tale Vale, Trinity, and Yarty.

From the District of Mid Devon:- Canonsleigh, Castle, Clare and Shuttern, Cranmore, Cullompton North, Cullompton Outer, Culllompton South, Halberton, Lower Culm, Lowman, Upper Culm, and Westexe.

The redrawn constituency will have a notional Conservative majority.

History

The present constituency of Tiverton and Honiton is the result of the merger of the formerly separate constituencies Honiton and Tiverton, the former having existed from 1640 and the latter from 1615. Both elected two members of parliament until the 1884 Reform Bill reduced the number for both to one.
