Alexander Susslein

Alexander Susslein (d. 1349) was a prominent 14th century rabbinic authority born in Erfurt, Germany. He was a Kohein. He authored "Sefer Agudah", a halakhic work (structured by the order of the Talmud's tractates) which was highly regarded by later rabbinic authorities. He served as a rabbi in the cities of Cologne, Frankfurt, and Worms. During the Black Death era massacres of hundrends of Jewish communities throughout Europe in 1348 and 1349, Susslein was killed in a pogrom that decimated the Jewish community of Erfurt.
