The Shire of Collie is a Local Government Area in the South West region of Western Australia, about convert|60|km|mi|0 east of Bunbury and about convert|200|km|mi|0 south of the state capital, Perth. The Shire covers an area of convert|1711|km2|sqmi|0, and its seat of government is the town of Collie.

History

The Collie Road Board was gazetted in 1900, and a separate Municipal District to manage the affairs of the town of Collie was gazetted a year later. On 2 March 1951, they amalgamated to form the Collie Coalfields Road Board. On 1 July 1961, they it became the Collie Shire Council following changes to the Local Government Act.
