It was built in 1920 and is part of the Grand Boulevard community area.
From 1929 to 1951, it served as the home of Oscar Stanton De Priest, the first post-Reconstruction African American elected to the United States Congress. The building was designated a National Historic Landmark on May 15, 1975.[3] It is not currently open to the public.
