Biography

Luti-Kriss/Norma Jean (1997–2007)

In 1997 Daniel joined with a group of friends and formed the band Luti-Kriss, which would later evolve into Norma Jean.

In 2003, Daniel decided to meld his love of music with his love of art. Drawing from his early fascination with mixed-media, Daniel began to explore the integration of photography and film in Norma Jean's live shows, and started creating live video projection for the band.

In 2007, after 10 years with Norma Jean, Daniel decided to part ways with the band and pursue his own artistic endeavors. He started a film and video company named ISTHMUS Studios (www.isthmusstudio.com). He has shot videos for Oh, Sleeper; Since October; Manchester Orchestra; Sent By Ravens; and others.[2]

After 10 years with them, Davison chose to leave the band Norma Jean. He publicly announced his departure on September 21, 2007 in the following farewell letter posted on the bands website:

Dear Friends and Fans,

After much time, prayer, council, and consideration, I have come to an important personal decision. My decision is that as of November 8th, 2007 I will no longer be a part of Norma Jean.

The band will continue without me. This winter the guys will begin writing for a new record. And I wish the best for them.

Lastly, I would like to thank every one of you, who over the years have supported me and this band. We could not have done anything without you. You all really mean so much to me. I hope to see as many of you as possible on my last tour, and thank you face to face for supporting our band, and for being a part of what we have been doing for all of these years. I will never forget the times that we all have shared. I am going to miss Norma Jean dearly, but I know that this is a step that I have to take.

Sincerely,

Daniel Davison
