Delbert Hosemann, Jr. (born June 30, 1947 in Vicksburg, Mississippi) is the Republican Secretary of State of Mississippi. Hosemann received his Bachelor of Business Administration from Notre Dame University in 1969. He then went on to earn his Juris Doctor from the University of Mississippi Law School in 1972. He completed his specialization in Taxation at New York University in 1973. Hosemann currently lives in Jackson, Mississippi and is a partner with Phelps Dunbar LLP.[1]

Early life
Hosemann was born in Vicksburg, Mississippi on June 30, 1947, to a Jewish Catholic family of Norwegian heritage.
Secretary of State
In the general election on November 6, 2007, Hosemann defeated Robert Smith (D) to become Mississippi's next Secretary of State.[2] In the Republican primary election on August 7, 2007, Hosemann received 54% of the vote, defeating former mayor of Columbus Jeffrey Rupp and State Representative Mike Lott of Petal. He took office in January 2008, succeeding Democrat Eric Clark.
Political involvement
Hosemann was a candidate for election to the Mississippi's 4th congressional district in 1998.
Personal life
Hosemann is married to Lynn L. Hosemann, and together they have three children.[3]
