May 30, 2011Preceded by Carole Lavallée Personal details Political party New Democratic Party Profession Physician Djaouida Sellah, MD, is a Canadian politician, who was elected to the Canadian House of Commons in the 2011 election.[1] She represents the electoral district of Saint-Bruno—Saint-Hubert as a member of the New Democratic Party.
Originally from Algeria, she came to Quebec in 1998. She was a volunteer doctor for the Red Crescent during the Gulf War. She is a doctor and mother of three, and at the time of her election was president of the Association québécoise des médecins diplômés hors Canada et États-Unis, supporting the recognition of qualifications of foreign-trained doctors.[2]
