Councillors

Kildare County Council has 25 members. As a result of the 2007 local boundary review,[1] these members are elected from 5 Local Electoral Areas: Athy (4 seats), Celbridge (6 seats), Clane (4 seats), Kildare (6 seats) and Naas (5 seats). Prior to this review, there was an additional area based around Leixlip, but this was combined with Celbridge as part of the review. The Council did not receive any additional seats as part of the review.

The current council was elected in June 2009. The Council is controlled by a Fine Gael–Labour Party alliance.

Elections are by Single transferable vote.
