Marawara District

Marawara District is one of the 15 districts in Kunar Province, Afghanistan, bordering Pakistan to the east. It borders Sirkanay district to the west, Asadabad district to the westand northwest and asmar district to northeast. Marawara's population is not exactly known but CSO and UN figures estimate it to be around 18,500 people. Marawara village is the center of the district and is located in its most western part. The Pashtun Mamund tribe is about 90% of the population, with some Salarzai tribal affiliation and others.Haji Dost Mohammad Mamund, malak Mohammad Alem and Haji Hzrat Rahman are the current district head. The mountainous terrain and the lack of arable land and irrigation systems is the main problem in this area.
