Athletics

Namibia's only ever Olympic medal winner, Frankie Fredericks, came just a tenth of a second short of winning his third medal in the 200 metres, but even his season best time was not fast enough to beat the three Americans ahead of him. Fredericks also fell just two-hundredths of a second short of qualifying for the semifinal in the 100 metres, another event in which he had won two Olympic medals.

Agnes Samaria also found herself on the wrong end of close finish, just a tenth-and-a-half of a second from making the Women's 800 metres final.

Men's 100 metres:

Namibia sent two boxers to Athens. Both received a bye in the round of 32, both won their match in the round of 16, and both were defeated in the quarterfinals. Namibia's combined record was 2-2, with no medals earned.
